It looks likely that the Crown & Sceptre in Streatham – the very same pub that The Clash sang about – closed for good last weekend, so local punk rockers Brigadé Junk decided to give it a proper send off.

The boozer dates back to 1825 and was namechecked on ‘Stay Free’ by the Clash on their 1978 second album, ‘Give ‘Em Enough Rope.’
“I practiced daily in my room, you were down the Crown planning your next move,” sang guitarist Mick Jones.
Although a petition was launched to save the iconic premises, many fear it’s unlikely to come back as a public house.
Brigadé Junk have announced that they will premiering their new film online and showing a busked rendition of the Clash song:
8pm Sunday May 29th
Premiere of our little video: A short tribute to ‘The Crown’ pub, a potted history of South London Clash mythology, and a busked rendition of Stay Free, from the ‘actual” pub of the song (life resembling art resembling life), on the day before it’s closure.
Dedicated to pubs the world over!
South London la la la! Set transmitters to boost!
